Dry Eye Specialists

At The Dry Eye Center of Maryland we have the expertise and specialized equipment to focus on eye care problems that other offices can’t address: helping dry eye patients – treatment of Dry Eye Syndrome, Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), Blepharitis, Sjögren’s Syndrome, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS), Evaporative Dry Eye, Aqueous Deficient Dry Eye, Severe Dry Eye, Demodex, Contact Lenses for Dry Eye, Scleral Lenses, PVR PROSE Lenses, and all Dry Eye Treatment. Additionally, helping patients who have trouble wearing contact lenses, often related to dry eye.

Our office maintains all the latest diagnostic instruments and dry eye treatments available. We have the latest instruments that can be found in only a few places in the country, including a wavefront topographer and aberrometer, which can find slight irregularities of the cornea and dryness of the eye. We are also continually involved in FDA studies involving dry eye diagnosis,  dry eye treatments, contact lenses, and contact lens solutions.

Our dry eye doctors listen carefully to patients and prescribe treatment plans for each person and situation. “The most common complaint we get from people about doctors they have seen in the past is about the quality of the eye examination,” says Dr. Thomas Azman. “A meticulous, comprehensive dry eye evaluation is essential,” he says. “Not an eye-glass exam, but one specifically for dry eye.” Dr. Benjamin Azman continues, “Most eye doctors see about 3, 000 patients a year, at The Dry Eye Center of Maryland we limit our patient load to roughly 1,200 patients per year. This allows us to gather all the facts pertinent to each patient’s visual requirements.” Additionally, this allows us to have more time to do a thorough review of a patient’s medical records and history. As a result, we are able to obtain a complete picture of the patient’s eye-care background – we ask about all the details and symptoms that many people live with, thinking they are normal. We take the time to listen to our patient’s needs and then discuss and explain all the treatment options available.

Our doctors form a relationship with our patients, and that, unfortunately, is a rarity today. We have received hundreds of testimonials and Google Reviews from patients expressing their gratitude for resolving problems that other doctors could not. Dr. Azman says, “I am proud that each and every patient leaves my office with the understanding that they know we care about their eyes and their well-being.” At The Dry Eye Center of Maryland, that’s a level of commitment and service we offer that you won’t often find in today’s medical world
